TETRA Association kicks off with its first Congress in the USA
two Latin America events were well attended with 174 attending in Brazilia, Brazil and 200 in Mexico City, Mexico.
The first three events of the TETRA Association Congress in Autumn have taken place In Brasila, Mexico City and Fort Worth.
The two Latin America events were well attended with 174 attending in Brazilia, Brazil and 200 in Mexico City. There is considerable competition for TETRA in both countries but a great deal of interest in what TETRA has to offer. In Mexico City, a meeting was arranged to meet the Danish and English Ambassadors both of whom are keen to support the efforts of the TETRA Association going forward.
The event in Fort Worth was much smaller but considering that it was the first TETRA event in the US and to a totally non public safety audience. The TETRA Congress offered the audience a range of insights into the
benefits users from across the globe, including the three pilot TETRA
implementations in the United States and Canada, derived from
implementing mobile communications systems based on the TETRA standard.
With
the FCC waiver enabling North American business outside of the public
safety market to consider TETRA as a solution for LMR requirements, the
Congress focused primarily on the needs for transportation and
utilities. While an embryonic standard in the U.S. market — although its
standing is progressing rapidly through the success of well-managed
pilots — TETRA is rightly considered a mature standard with millions of
users worldwide. Two key themes dominated the event — interoperability,
achieved through the systemic interoperability certification process and
enabling a truly open multivendor environment and the range of
applications that TETRA supports, demonstrating a radio standard that is
more than just a solution for voice communications.
The next TETRA Association congress will be in South East Asia with events in Manila, Bangkok and Jakarta and followed by Delhi in November.
Furthermore the TETRA Association will be collaborating with Infor Media Russia again this year in the PMR Forum Moscow on the 6th and 7th October 2011.
The full set of presentations from the congress at Fort Worth, USA can be found at the TETRA Association website.
