The TETRA netowrk in Jordan will have more than 160 communications base stations and 30,000 users. It will be fully operational by the end of this year.

Thales of France is extending Jordan's TETRA communications network, which links the armed forces, public security and civil defense agencies.
The company had earlier supplied its DigiMax Professional Mobile Radio solution for the installation of the system.

TETRA will have more than 160 communications base stations and 30,000 users. It will be fully operational by the end of this year and features air-ground-air communication capabilities.

Its multiagency capability enables users to operate on the same network.

"This extension confirms Thales's position as a leading provider of resilient and secure communications networks and illustrates the know-how of the company in this field and its capacity to design, deploy and install a large secure communication network to a very tight timescale," the company said.

The monetary value of the extension and contract details was not disclosed.
