400.000 safety and rescue workers are now using the BOS TETRA digital radio network in Germany
In a newsletter that was published today, BDBOS (Bundesanstalt für den Digitalfunk der Behörden und Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben) communicated that since december 2014 the BOS network counts more than 400.000 users.
Since December 2013, more than 400,000 participants are using the BOS digital radio network. Thereby, the use of the BOS digital radio is increasing: In December alone, 4.3 million group calls were initiated.
In all German provinces, the BOS digital radio network, that is used for communications to support authorities and organizations with security tasks, such as police, fire and rescue services, is in daily use. These forces are in particular satisfied with the improved accessibility and the high voice quality compared to analog radio.
The BOS digital radio has already proven its success, for example in the context of the flood disaster in southern and eastern Germany in the summer of 2013. Because of the new radio system, the different forces where able to communicate with each other in an effective and reliable way. This facilitated both the overall coordination and allowed effective control of the forces that where deployed.
According to BDBOS, with the completion of the nationwide construction of the BOS digital radio network by the end of 2014, the fine tuning of the network becomes more and more important. The already carried out support of various BOS digital radio operations serve as the basis for this development. In addition to this, the next step is to facilitate other services that support an effective organization.
