Smurfit Kappa rents Motorola TETRA system to enhance the safety of its personnel
Smurfit Kappa, one of the leading providers of paper-based packaging solutions has chosen the Motorola system for its complete range of security features such as personal alarms, group call and prioritization of key calls.
Smurfit Kappa one of the leading providers of paper-based packaging solutions in the world, with around 45,000 employees in approximately 370 production sites across 34 countries and with revenue of €8.1 billion, has rented for its Smurfit Kappa subsidary in Piteå, Sweden a TETRA system from Motorola Solutions.
The new TETRA communications system, based on Motorola's TETRA renowned architecture, has been designed with particular attention to reliability and safety. It will be delivered by Motorola Solutions distributor in Sweden, Celab communications.
Besides high capacity and clear radio communications, the system offers a complete range of security features such as personal alarms, group call, prioritization of key calls and alarm messages. The solution has been equiped redundantly with dual base stations which eliminates a potential source of error and thus increase operational safety even further. Thanks to complementary indoor infrastructure, Smurfit Kappa will receive adequate reception throughout the whole area of the plant.
The communication network will be delivered with some hundred portable and mobile Tetra Terminals from Motorola solutions.
Smurfit Kappa has chosen to lease the entire solution over five years with an option for an extension. During the contract, Celab Communications AB will act as a full service provider.
