Powertrunk to Provide TETRA Network for Chemung County Transit
PowerTrunk, Inc., part of the Sepura Group, announces that it has been chosen to provide a digital TETRA radio communications network for Chemung County Transit (C TRAN) in New York.
The TETRA system is to be delivered through Integrated Systems of Victor, New York, a long-established IT vendor providing support to the county. Integrated Systems includes the PowerTrunk product line as part of its portfolio for the New York State Contract, under which Chemung County Transit is placing its order.
The immediate goal of the PowerTrunk TETRA system is to replace an existing legacy analog radio system to provide voice and data communication for controlling and managing the C TRAN public bus transportation service. A second phase, for a control room upgrade and the addition of real-time GPS tracking of the buses, is also planned in order to further improve operations and safety.
Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli, noting the improvements said:
"The TETRA digital equipment will provide the transit system drivers better and easier communication with their main office, which will improve the safety and performance of the system."
"PowerTrunk is pleased to bring TETRA technology to Chemung County through our partnership with Integrated Systems," said Carlos Fernandez, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer for PowerTrunk.
"C TRAN will now join New Jersey Transit in the US as an early adopter of TETRA, a world-class digital radio technology already utilized in more than 125 countries globally."
Mark Hamilton, President of Integrated Systems, added: "We are very excited about the opportunities that our partnership with PowerTrunk brings for enhancing the overall wireless capabilities for Chemung County. The addition of TETRA technology will complement the effectiveness of the County's already existing and nationally recognized broadband network system."
