TATA Steel fully Transitions to New TETRA Network
After the successful FAT and SAT tests in April and May last year and the full conversion and migration of plants and equipment,Tata Steel on February 15 decided to completely switch to the new infrastructure installed by Dutch Sepura Distributor Abiom.
The old digital radio TETRAPOL communication system is now deactivated and will be dismantled.
At the location of Tata Steel in IJmuiden, The Netherlands, specialists of Abiom recenty converted vehicles, locomotives, cranes and emergency rooms to the new Sepura TETRA network. Tata Steel has extensively tested the new situation and is confident that the full migration has succesfully completed. The last pair of non-mission critical vehicles are converted at this time. After that, TATA Steel wil lenter frm the realisation phase to the management phase of the new network
In collaboration with Tata Steel, Abiom will, where necessary, provide customized solutions to suit the workprocesses and the communication needs within the plants even better.
The new Sepura communications network consists of five redundant base stations, control room solutions and around 900 portable and mobile radios as well as specific solutions for cranes and locomotives.
