Capable of continuous operation for up to 4.5 hours with its internal battery, the 3550 digital radio test set from Aeroflex employs a color touch-screen display that simplifies field testing of PMR (Private Mobile Radio), public safety, and other land mobile radio systems. It can be used to quickly isolate problems and assess performance in AM/FM radios, with options for P25, DMR (Digital Mobile Radio), NXDN, and dPMR (digital PMR) radios.
The 3550 tests all aspects of the radio system: transmitter, receiver, cables, and antennas. Typical specifications include phase noise of -95 dBc/Hz, RF signal-generator level accuracy of ±1.5 dB, FM deviation meter accuracy of 4%, and spectrum-analyzer DANL (displayed average noise level) of -140 dBm with preamp enabled. The unit weighs just 8.3 lbs, including the battery, and meets MIL-PRF-28800A specifications for humidity, shock, and vibration. Operating temperature range is 0 to +50°C. A ruggedized version of the instrument, the 3550R has a wider operating temperature range of -20°C to +55°C and is specified to MIL-PRF-28800F Class 2.
