IMS Research predicts growth in these accessory categories to be driven by education about the benefits that these technologies can offer not only the users themselves but also operational procedures.

For the first time IMS Research, recently acquired by IHS Inc. (NYSE:IHS) has measured the market for specialist accessories for the Licensed Mobile Radio market and confirmed that these represent a significant growth opportunity for the accessories community.

IMS Research examined the market for ATEX, hearing protection and wireless accessories and the market for each is forecast to more than treble in the next five years. With double digit growth forecast each year; these represent the fastest growing accessory categories.

Deryn Evans, mobile radio market analyst at IMS Research states: “Although a significant proportion of the accessories market is for those accessories required for radio function, the most interesting story lies within the innovation and technological advances occurring within the accessory industry. Our study revealed some interesting trends, particularly when it came to the requirement and take up of the more specialist technologies. For example, despite ATEX being a European Union directive, we have seen it being adopted in a variety of other regions, driving increased take up in ATEX certified accessories.”

IMS Research predicts growth in these accessory categories to be driven by education about the benefits that these technologies can offer not only the users themselves but also operational procedures. In particular for the ATEX and hearing protection accessories, increasing awareness around the benefits of intrinsically safe equipment and the dangers of excessive noise is causing an increase in demand.

IMS Research’s recently published report LMR Accessories - World - 2012 assesses the market for licensed mobile radio accessories by providing detailed shipment and revenue analysis by country/region and vertical application area, and provides in-depth commentary of the factors affecting the market in each country.
