The judges were impressed with the entry that showed how Motorola has once again created an innovative new solution, this time for the ATEX two-way communications sector. The DP4000 Ex Series is more than just a radio: it combines a data modem, GPS receiver, analogue two-way radio, DMR digital two-way radio, short-data-messaging engine and hardware contacts allowing remote control and monitoring of equipment. All this is packaged in a rugged, waterproof, handheld package that meets requirements for use in potentially explosive environments.
