Hytera DMR based XPT Digital Trunking Systems have been installed and are up and running in the Rio Olympic Village. It is the only radio network that covers the entire Olympic Village.

In the Olympic Village that is located in the area of Barra da Tijuca, hosting 17,950 athletes and technical staff at Games time in 3,604 flats, two UHF systems were installed on top of two village buildings.

The complete system supports up to several dozen talk groups with more than 800 handheld radios and is used by venue management, catering, cleaning, operation, team welcome and some local organizations.

“I am very honored to be part of the Games. The XPT system and PD6 series terminals are perfect for the village management to support their day to day operation,” commented Dylan Liu, international marketing director of Hytera Communications in an interview, “Our partner Riedel Communications has deployed the system in advance and will make sure everything goes smoothly during the whole event.” Liu continued.
