Nationwide Emergency LTE network could need more money

A few years ago both Verizon and AT&T successfully launched their 4G LTE networks and are now coming close to completing LTE coverage throughout the country.

When LTE was in its infancy Firstnet undertook the emergency LTE network designed to create a uniform connection across the country for the public safety sector. Now, years after the deployment started studies have been released and noted showing that the $7 billion funding isn’t enough to cover 226 densely populated counties across the country.

Reports say it should cost anywhere from $5.5 billion to $9.4 billion more to completely build out coverage depending on construction and how wireless companies assist FirstNet in their deployment.
