PSCE & 6G-IA Joint Workshop Results on “Smart Networks and Services Innovation to Fulfil PPDR needs” Soon to be Released

Curated by: Gert Jan Wolf - Editor-in Chief for The Critical Communications Review

PSCE and 6G-IA joined forces on Wednesday 11th September to deliver an online Interactive Workshop sponsored by project FIDAL on “Smart Networks and Services Innovation to Fulfil PPDR needs”. 27 participants attended, bringing the SNS community together with PPDR practitioners.

An initial presentation from David Lund, BroadEU.Net coordinator, set the scene on the potential role of SNS projects in contributing towards a pan-European Critical Communication System (EUCCS).  Disrupting the traditional workshop formats, during the rest of the session practitioners and innovation experts sat together in three smaller groups to exchange on:

  1. Bottleneck, challenges and the evolving PPDR context
  2. Opportunities for 6G and beyond and understanding the current implementation potential of technologies

A representative from each group reported to the Plenary highlights from their discussions on the priority PPDR needs identified, key aspects of the changing context, and the key technologies that should be prioritized to address these needs.

Detailed results from the exchanges will be made publicly available in the upcoming weeks, informing a white paper and webinar.
