About the engineer
Brian Murgatroyd is an experienced Chartered Engineer who has specialised in TETRA security over the last 11 years. He has been in the public safety radio telecommunications arena for over 30 years after leaving the Royal Air Force in which he served as an Engineer.
He has a first class honours degree in telecommunications and electronics and is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a corporate member of the Institution of Engineering Technology (MIET).
He has been a member of ETSI TETRA Working Group 6 (Security) and the TETRA MoU Security and Fraud Prevention Group (SFPG) for 7 years and was chairman of both groups for four years until retiring from these positions at the end of 2006.
In his previous career with the UK Police IT organisation (PITO) he headed up the Communications Security section and has been heavily involved at a senior level in the successful implementation of the security functionality and features on the UK national emergency service communications system (Airwave).
