World’s Largest TETRA Network Operator Joins the TCCA
ALDB GmbH, operator of the world’s largest TETRA network in Germany, has joined TCCA, the global representative organisation for the critical communications ecosystem.
Founded in 2010 as a subsidiary of an international telecommunication equipment manufacturer with the purpose of operating the German safety communications network, today ALDB GmbH is a fully state-owned company. ALDB’s 200 employees are responsible for operating Germany’s BOS digital radio network, comprising more than 4,700 base stations and more than 850,000 subscribers.
ALDB GmbH develops its own supporting systems and works closely together with the Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS) bringing the future of mission-critical networks to its end users: fire fighters, policemen, rescue services and all others helping to make Germany a safe country.
“Operating the world's largest TETRA network is our passion,” said Ralf Weitzel, head of contract- and service level management at ALDB GmbH. “As TCCA is the guardian of the TETRA standard and responsible for its ongoing development and promotion, we are pleased to be formally incorporated into the Association, which will help us to monitor new trends and respond with new and improved solutions.”
“TETRA remains the solid foundation of public safety networks around the world, and Germany’s nationwide system assists its first responders in protecting citizens and communities every day, supported by the practical experience and critical deployment expertise of ALDB. We are delighted to welcome the ALDB team to TCCA,” said Tony Gray, TCCA Chief Executive.
