TETRA FOR NATIONAL HIGHWAYS IN MOROCCO

Over 600 km of Moroccan highways will be equipped with a TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked Radio) radio communication system, which allows for communications in mission-critical situations, states the Company “National Highways in Morocco” (ADM).
 
The first phase will include the Casablanca-Rabat axis, Casablanca-El Jadida and Casablanca-Agadir. The bi-directional mobile radio system is specially designed for emergency services, emergency calls and security. “It will quickly be expanded to cover the entire network operated by ADM," says the company responsible for construction, maintenance and operation of the Moroccan highways network.
 
This system is independent of the GSM network and provides ADM with the advantage of allowing rapid and safe calls at any time.
 
The TETRA system also ensures the absence of congestion risks and interference, the statement said, adding that "the fibre optic network installed by ADM liaises between the various base stations and hence the continuity of service, even in the most difficult situations”.
 
The usage of this technology, adds the same source, allows ADM "to mitigate the limitations of the analogue networks in terms of coverage and features" and to allow usage of several applications which can be used within the new network such as sending text messages, geo-localization, the usage of professional applications on certain radio terminals and the connection to centralized applications.
