TELTRONIC extends TETRA networks for a number of satisfied customers in Brazil
ArcelorMittal Brasil has doubled the capacity of its TELTRONIC TETRA system
TELTRONIC has successfully delivered extensions to existing TETRA networks for an industrial plant, an electricity company and an urban rail company in Brazil consolidating its position as clear market leader in one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
ArcelorMittal Brasil, part of the largest steel producing company in the world, has doubled the capacity of its TELTRONIC TETRA system at its Tubarao steel plant in Vitoria, Espirito Santo in a major upgrade undertaken recently. The TETRA system which became operational in 2008 now has 2,000 users following the acquisition of 650 new HTT-500 hand-portables. The network currently handles over 40,000 calls a day. Due to the size of its operations, the Tubarao steel plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and requires mission-critical communications with the highest levels of security and resilience.
“ArcelorMittal Brazil requires a communications solution that will never fail and yet has enough capacity to cope with thousands of users in a confined space. This is why the company chooses TETRA from Teltronic,” explains Mauro Pereira, Regional Manager, Teltronic.
COELCE - the Electricity Company of the State of Ceara in the North East of Brazil - has signed a deal to extend coverage of its existing TELTRONIC TETRA network across the Metropolitan Region of state capital city, Fortaleza. The system is used predominantly by COELCE’s service and maintenance staff and has been growing since it began operations in 2008.
“COELCE is looking at expanding its secure communications solution at some stage of the future to provide cost-effective, secure data applications. This is one of the reasons why it chose TETRA from Teltronic,” states Mauricio Rio, Regional Manager, Teltronic.
SUPERVIA, the train operator for the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area, has just acquired a further 60 train carriages from Chandung Railway Company (CRC), all fitted out with TETRA on-board systems supplied by TELTRONIC. The on-board equipment includes a rack and console providing interfaces to loudspeakers and train and platform intercom systems. In 2008, TELTRONIC delivered a full TETRA solution for SUPERVIA including a network with coverage of the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area, on-board solutions for 350 carriages and a control centre.
“SUPERVIA is very happy to have chosen TELTRONIC’s TETRA solution for its on-board communications as it gives the operator the flexibility to expand its operations and introduce new applications without having to worry about how it will integrate all its communications in the future,” says Oscar Fernandez, Vice-President Asia, Teltronic
