9 Million Euro for dysfunctional Tshwane metro telecoms
the Special Investigating Unit is investigating how the company which has ties to suspended Tshwane metro police deputy chief Ndumiso Jaca won the bid.
Eyewitness News has learnt that a new telecommunications company has been appointed to fix the Tshwane metro police's dysfunctional radio communication network.
Earlier in 2011 Oageng Office Solutions a company with no telecommunication experience was appointed to install the Tetra network.
More than R100 million has been spent on the hi-tech system, but it does not work.
Officially, the three year contract was to maintain and service the existing Tetra network.
However, sources said first on the list for Ikwezi Maintenance and Communications was to fix up the mess left by Oageng and get the network up and running.
The company which is the licensed importer of the equipment Oageng illegally brought in from Korea lost out on the initial tender three years ago.
It is understood the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is investigating how the company which has ties to suspended Tshwane metro police deputy chief Ndumiso Jaca won the bid.
Ikwezi refused to comment while the Tshwane municipality has not yet responded to questions
