Axell’s Market Share Continues to Grow
The recent launch of its idDAS (intelligent digital DAS) solution at this year’s Mobile World Congress, served to reinforce Axell’s position as the most innovative company in the marketplace.
lobal technology market intelligence organisation, ABI Research, confirmed in its latest report that the in-building market continues to grow, with DAS equipment revenues up by over 10% YoY and almost $1.4B being spent on in-building coverage in 2013. The report ranks Axell Wireless as number one in the category of ‘innovation’ and with a strong number three position globally.
Axell Wireless’ active DAS (Distributed Antenna System) products are used all over the world in high-profile locations such as The Shard in London (Western Europe’s tallest building), the Channel Tunnel, the Washington Metro and The Pentagon in the United States. Axell’s in-building systems are used to propagate wireless coverage in challenging environments including tunnels, metro systems, shopping malls and high-rise multi-use facilities. The recent launch of its idDAS (intelligent digital DAS) solution at this year’s Mobile World Congress, served to reinforce Axell’s position as the most innovative company in the marketplace.
idDAS provides mobile operators with a revolutionary new approach to handling the challenges and current limitations of in-building coverage systems and allows mobile operators to dynamically allocate capacity around a facility. In effect, it provides a DAS system that can “breathe” and react to user demands as and when required. The report noted that idDAS “brings active DAS systems up to date and applies the latest techniques for traffic management”. As well as this market-leading technological innovation, ABI also noted it was impressed with Axell’s YoY market share gain – amongst the highest the research company assessed.
Nick Marshall, Principal Analyst, ABI Research commented: “The accolade of most innovative vendor was well deserved by Axell Wireless, and idDAS represents a hugely significant change in DAS technology and how it is deployed. It is one of the most significant DAS evolutions in a decade”.
Axell’s CEO, Ian Brown, has observed the continued investment in this field, illustrating the growing importance of in-building coverage in mobile operators’ networks. Brown commented: “The spotlight on in-building coverage continues to strengthen and every day in our business we talk to mobile operators who are recognising the growing need to provide coverage indoors – after all, 80% of all mobile communication comes from within a building. Our focus is always on sustained innovation, bringing new ways for operators to solve this challenge and provide in-building coverage in a way that is cost-effective and efficient, while giving the end users what they want – mobile coverage anytime, anywhere”.
Brown continues: “With the recent launch of idDAS at this year’s Mobile World Congress, we clearly demonstrated our commitment to innovation and we will continue to ensure this is a pillar of our business as we work to gain further market share in the future”.
