Kenya Police to purchase TETRA
As part of the National Treasury plan to modernise security services in Kenia, the Kenyan police has now planned to purchase secure radio solutions.
According to a Kenyan newspaper, the National Treasury in Kenia has set aside Sh219 billion in the 2015-16 financial year to modernise security services.
Last week, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich presented the estimates for the security and prisons sector in the Parliament.
Some Sh92.3 billion has been set aside for military security, Sh102.2 billion for internal security and Sh18.0 billion for prison services.
The Budget Framework further says that Sh25 billion will be used for security modernisation. This includes installation of CCTV cameras on Nairobi, Mombasa and other major cities in the project being carried out by Safaricom.
As part of the modernisation the Kenian Police will also have the opportunity to now purchase secure radio solutions such as a nationwide TETRA radio network and other public safety networks.
Recently, the police invited Airbus to the national Kenya police headquarters to make a powerpoint presentation for secure radio solutions, nationwide Tetra radio networks, national security communications and nationwide public safety networks.
