As of 3 July 2015 Frequentis formally joined the eLTE Industry Alliance, an open Industry Organisation of 72 individual companies from the general TETRA and broadband trunking enterprise market.

Known for its representation on various standardisation committees as well as its contribution to TETRA solutions, Frequentis is taking an important step for the future of LTE applications. The company’s solutions already support LTE technologies and this membership is a timely response to the future of public safety.

As an international supplier of communication and information solutions for safety-critical applications and a global leader in voice communication, Frequentis is actively participating in integrating new technical possibilities and standards into control centre solutions. The company’s solutions build upon different technologies, from TETRA, GSM-R to LTE. Frequentis is now member of the eLTE Industry Alliance, in order to contribute to a faster introduction of LTE broadband data and voice trunking technologies in the public safety sector.

LTE (Long Term Evolution) as radio technology provides much higher data rates to users, works in urban and rural areas and allows national roaming with other LTE networks (Public Mobile Network Operators) in areas where radio coverage of a dedicated Public Safety network would otherwise be too costly. The eLTE standard promoted by the eLTE IA is based on B-TrunC standard included in ITU-R. Proposal Document M.2009 represents an enhanced version of the LTE standard offering mission-critical features such as voice trunking, priority and pre-emption and end to end encryption with carrier grade network reliability, meeting user requirements for efficient operational communications in governments, railway systems, airports, ports, power grids, as well as oil and mining industries. With the capability to provide voice trunking, video dispatch, video surveillance and location services, Huawei’s eLTE broadband trunking infrastructure and the rich portfolio of eLTE terminals, applications and custom solutions offered by the eLTE Alliance members the solutions help customers to significantly improve operational efficiency and emergency response rates.

The eLTE Alliance promotes the development and commercialisation of enterprise LTE solutions (eLTE) and therefore relies on joint-member innovation. Members of the eLTE Alliance jointly perform solution development, solution marketing and actively promote and develop voice trunking industry standards in 3GPP together with the TETRA and Critical Communications Association (TCCA). In March 2015, Huawei’s eLTE solution won the 2015 Best Integration of Future Broadband with TETRA Award issued by the TCCA, the highest honour in the trunking market.

Represented on various standardisation committees, such as EENA (European Emergency Number Association), NENA (National Emergency Number Association), TCCA (TETRA and Critical Communications Association) and the 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) working group, Frequentis is aiming at its first LTE control centre solution implementation.

Johann Schweiger, Director of Public Safety Sales & Business Development at Frequentis AG, says: “Our solutions are LTE-ready and it is crucial for us to create reliable and powerful international partnerships and memberships to push first implementations. We are looking forward to exploring the know-how and possibilities that this alliance offers and are confident that we have chosen the right business partner in Huawei.”

eLTE Industry Alliance Chairman Norman Frisch of Huawei welcomes Frequentis as a new member of the Industry Alliance and confirms: “It is very important for us to have wide set of members within the Alliance with a diverse set of know-how and strong capability to build mission-critical voice trunking and broadband data solutions in line with LTE and latest 3GPP standards. This is a further step forward in future developments.”

With this membership Frequentis intensifies its commitment to LTE solutions and is in line with many other renowned companies contributing to the future of public safety.
