Polish Energy Sector in Search for more TETRA Radio Channels
In 2017, under the application for an extension of a licence for 28 channels for the Tetra system, the energy sector will require the possibility of parallel usage of both systems, until Digicom7 system is completely replaced with Tetra.
Polish regulator UKE this week published the results of the consultation on the draft amendment of the frequency usage plan for the bands 412 - 420 MHz and 422 - 430 MHz.
As far as we know the only comment was submitted by the Polish Association of Power Transmission and Distribution. The frequency usage plan amendment relates to the allocation of 25 kHz channels for the purposes of Tetra radio communication systems and based on the parameters of the band, the draft amendment impacts also the frequencies used by the energy sector. It includes radio channels of 12.5 kHz, which were used mainly in analogue systems so far, such as the system Digicom7.
The association underlined the need to create 25 (+3) new channels of 25 kHz for the Tetra system, with the assumption that the new broader channels will be dedicated also for the energy sector. Until 2021, it is foreseen that the Polish energy sector will use both systems - analogue Digicom7 and digital Tetra - in parallel.
