Rohill Secures Further Expansion of the TETRA Public Safety network in Uruguay
The Ministry of Interior in Uruguay signed a contract with Rohill for another significant expansion of their current mission-critical Public Safety TetraNode TETRA network.
The upgrade includes the first phase of the expansion of the touristic coastal area of Uruguay. The existing TetraNode network already covers the city of Montevideo, as well as Canelones, greater Montevideo and San José areas. The expanded network will cover the area of more than 60% of the total Uruguayan population.
Uruguay is home to 3.4 million people, of whom 1.8 million live in the metropolitan area of its capital and largest city, Montevideo. The Uruguay Ministry of Interior, based in Montevideo, is amongst others responsible for national security and emergency management. The TetraNode network of the Ministry of Interior in Uruguay is relied on by 3,400 police officers, and handles more than 30,000 voice calls and more than 110,000 short data messages per day.
The network expansion will be executed by Rohill partner STC Americana S.A. and is scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of 2016.
