Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Replaces Radio Communication Systems
In order to support its mission and ambition and to maintain its competitive position, Schiphol Group will replace its three current radio communication systems that support communications for security and primary business processes.
Schiphol Group indicates that the reason for this replacement is, that the three current critical communication systems have reached their technical and economic lifespan and should be replaced by a new communication platform that meets the requirements of today and the future.
Under the name RadioCom, Schiphol Telematics has launched a project for a new agreement for delivery and maintenance of a new mission-critical radio communications platform as well as associated services. The EU tender that has come out htis week requests services including the design, delivery, realization, migration, documentation, training, service, management and maintenance of the new network.
The intention is that the current (analogue) installed base on portable radios will be gradually replaced so that the new radio communications system will support both analog as well as digital radio communications. Remarkably is to say that Schiphol requires a communication system that delivers a call setup time of less than 100ms. The reason to request such a short call setup time is because of the interconnection with Air traffic Control.
The parties that sign up for this tender must provide a radio communications system and perform services related to the radio communications system, including:
1. Carry out calculations and measurements to meet the required coverage and availability. Approach and substantiation should be discussed at the grant phase at ST;
2. Design, delivery, installation, integration, testing, migration and programming of the central radio communication system. This infrastructure includes, among other things, central equipment, base stations (transceivers including antenna, mast and cabling), control stations, couplings and redundancy facilities.
3. Service, management and maintenance services on central infrastructure and service stations. This also involves solving radio coverage incidents;
4. Optional: Peripherals, consisting of portable phones, mobile phones, accessories and accessories;
5. Optional: Service, management and maintenance services on peripherals. The radio communications service should include all common PMR functions.
The agreement has a term of six years with an extension of two times two years.
Announcement of the final selection result is 6 November 2017.
