DSB Starts Open discussion on the Future of Nødnett Emergency Communications Network

Source: MCCResources

Although today's emergency network will be the most important communications tool for many years in the future, according to DSB, operator of the Norwegian Public Safety TETRA network, it is already time to think about the future emergency network.

The Digital Agenda of the Norwegian Government has stated taht, whenever possible, that the next generation of emergency networks in Norway should be realized on commercial mobile networks. With that in mind, DSB organizes a seminar to discuss this so important topic on Thursday 23 November.

The 'red wire' during the discussion is to understand how to provide an even better emergency services offering for the users of Notnett as well as for the public in Norway. Questions will be asked such as: Why is this the way to go? What does this decision mean to the users? Mobile operators must reconsider their offerings new when offering a critical communication solution for emergency communications. How can DSB ensure that the next generation of emergency networks will be at least as good as today's solution?

The program is headed by Christian Strand, Program Manager at NRK. Other speakers are: Elisabeth Aarsæther, director NKom, Cecilie B. Løken - COO Nødnett , Tor Helge Lyngstøl - Director General at Directorate for emergency communication, Hans Christian Pretorius - Director Cybersecurity at Norwegian National Security Authority, amongst others.
