Simoco Technologist to Speak at PMR Summit on Behalf of DMR Association

Andy Grimmett, Chief Technologist at Global Mobile Radio Specialist Simoco Group, will address next week’s PMR Summit in Barcelona on behalf of the DMR Association.

The event, which runs from 19th - 21st September, will see key players involved in professional mobile radio solutions around the world come together to network, debate and find out more about the latest developments in their sector.

Andy will be speaking about DMR Technology, covering the technical detail of the over-the-air protocol including packet structure, timing references, channel access, and call types for conventional (DMR Tier II) and trunked (DMR Tier III) modes of operation.

He will also cover the benefits of DMR over analogue communications, highlighting the specifics of TDMA technologies, while clarifying the unique benefits of DMR technology.  Finally, the speech will cover the adoption of DMR, including where DMR sits in the market and its future growth.

Simoco is one of the key drivers behind the DMR Association’s commitment to setting the standards for the future of DMR, helping ensure interconnectivity policies that drive open commercial markets.  With over 18 years’ experience in radio communications research, development and project delivery Andy is the lead Simoco technologist participant in the DMRA.
