Tait Communications announced yesterday the first in Europe to test ETSI DMR Tier III at the Provincial Crisis Management Centre in Warsaw. During the show a connection was archieved between ul. Mansions in Warsaw (the location of the base station DMR Tier III) and Poviat Management Centers in Grójcu and Piaseczno, that are currently to be reached by using conventional analog system.

The quality of radio communications was very good. The connection between ul. Mansions in Warsaw (the location of the base station DMR Tier III) and the Provincial Crisis Management Centre in Warsaw (pl Bank) existed of:

  • whip antennas
  • car antennas for mobile radios located on the ground floor window ledge of the building (good communications quality - depending on the position of the antenna)
  • hand-held terminal inside the building (poor quality - highly dependent on space-communications)

Using the whole Trunking infrastructure (TB9300 base station with a single radio carrier, the central element node and Tait terminals) have successfully tested the functionality:

  • group calls
  • single calls
  • send short text messages
  • emergency calls
  • queuing service calls

The tests were successful, resulting in a number of institutions that wishes to further test on its own infrastructure, including Waterworks Warsaw.

Arthur Lara (Head of ICT projects in MPWiK) said: "The Tait DMR Tier III meets all our expectations regarding functionalities:  good range, properly secured radioterminale, IP 67, very good voice quality, the possibility of cross-linking base stations over IP. I am satisfied with the performance of the tests.
