Telent Modernizes Radio Network of Göttingen Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH
The Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe (GöVB) recently granted telent GmbH an order for a DMR communication network for mission-critical voice and data.
The project includes the design, supply and installation of the new digital radio network, as well as integration with the current operating system (ITCS) of the control center of GöVB.
In addition to an uninterrupted voice communications for nearly 100 company vehicles, the DMR radio system meets all relevant requirements for the performance of critical applications. This includes the connection to the passenger information system, the control of traffic light systems (LSA) for the interaction of vehicles with traffic lights and emergency communications (prioritization). The transport companies valued the importance to a secure and highly available communications. Here transmission and voice quality as well as its own, reliable wireless infrastructure play a decisive role.
As part of a "soft migration”, the new DMR radio system is commissioned in stages, so that there will be no interruption of the operation. In the first step, the busses of GöVB will be equipped with new radios, replacing the radio that are currently working in analog mode first. In a second step, the start-up of the switch to digital DMR technology is performed. The control center is in this case equipped with a Dispatcher position which not only allows convenient communication with the vehicles, but also a comprehensive graphical representation of the vehicle positions.
"The introduction of the DMR radio system is an important step towards the realization of a real time information system in Göttingen. Decisive for this choice, the request was to ensure, the service, quality and security for our customers based on a crisis-proof communication system ,”said Thomas Zimmermann, manager of GöVB.
When choosing the right communications technology telent decided to choose the advanced DMR DIPRA Solution form their technology partner RADIODATA. Thanks to its open, multi-cellular Tier 3 architecture, the DMR-network can be expanded as desired. With the central and local interfaces, the system is ideally suited to efficiently implement future requirements.
