Motorola Launches Cloud-based Push-to-Talk Service
Motorola Solutions has launched a cloud-based broadband push-to-talk service in Australia targeting enterprises and government agencies.
The cloud-based software can bridge traditional private radio networks and mobile networks. It works with both Apple or Android smart phones and tablets to connect directly to private radios. According to Motorola, the service has the ability to provide workforce communications to groups of up to 3000 users.
Motorola Solutions Australia technology director Greg Bouwmeester said the software-as-a-service would be offered via flexible user subscriptions, removing the capital investments needed to deliver broadband PTT capabilities or to enable radio networks to communicate with other devices.
“In government and business environments today, employees are communicating with a variety of mission-critical devices as well as consumer-grade devices. Wave Cloud Connect is the ideal solution for any organisation wanting to simply and affordably combine large numbers of users and teams onto a single communications platform,” Bouwmeester said.
He added that Wave Cloud Connect increases the capability and value that users receive from their radio networks, but also noted that the application can also be used by workers that do not have access to a radio network. Key features include a visual mapping tool to pinpoint the location of users in the field and a secure text messaging service. The software is part of Motorola’s Next Generation Mobile Intelligence suite.
