The Royal Thai Police have urged the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to assign part of a 800 MHz frequency band so it can provide a public safety service using LTE 4G wireless broadband technology, local newspaper The Nation reports. The regulator has reserved the range 814-824MHz and the range 859-869MHz for the Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR).
According to Royal Thai Police spokesman General Dejnarong Sutthicharnbancha, the police has already assigned a budget for this project this year. Other state agencies will also be able to use the planned 4G public safety network or the integrated communications channel for national security, he added. The service will initially be available in Bangkok, and will be gradually expanded to other provinces.
