Focus on PSLTE Brings new Jobs at Motorola Solutions HQ
Motorola has been building out a mobile-app development team as it works toward the next generation of communications technology (PSLTE) for police and firefighters.
Motorola Solutions has ramped up hiring of tech workers ahead of its move downtown and a coming technology shift in its business.
The company is in the process of adding 40 software engineers as it incorporates more smartphone-like capabilities into its emergency radio equipment. The engineers, many of whom already have been hired, are based downtown, where Motorola has offices at 224 S. Michigan Ave.
The company will move about 800 people to its new headquarters at 500 W. Monroe from Schaumburg early next month. Motorola has about 3,100 employees in the Chicago area.
Motorola is building out several public-safety LTE test projects in the U.S. and overseas, though that still a small part of the company's revenue.
