Kodiak and Airbus DS Communications Complete LMR Interoperability Testing
Having completed the certification process, the ISSI-based solution is in the midst of a pilot program with existing Airbus VESTA Radio customers.
Kodiak, a leading provider of broadband push-to-talk solutions, and Airbus DS Communications, an entity of Airbus Defense and Space, announced yesterday that they have completed joint testing and certification of a solution for land mobile radio (LMR) interoperability using the P25 Inter-RF Sub-system Interface (ISSI). Having completed the certification process, the ISSI-based solution is in the midst of a pilot program with existing Airbus VESTA® Radio customers.
Interoperability between the VESTA Radio solution and Kodiak Broadband PTT makes it possible for private and public organizations to provide fast, secure, reliable push-to-talk communications for all users over any network, P25, 4G/LTE, 3G and Wi-Fi. By implementing LMR interoperability, these organizations can cost-effectively scale their LMR networks, connecting more people, in more places, and with a wider choice of devices than ever before.
The LMR interoperability solution using ISSI will be demonstrated in the Airbus DS Communications’ booth (#1353) at the 82nd Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) tradeshow and conference in Orlando, FL.
“The implementation of ISSI between our carrier-integrated Broadband PTT solution and Airbus DS Communications’ VESTA Radio P25 solution continues our focus on new ways to enhance and extend LMR communications, making it possible for users on both solutions to seamlessly communicate with each other,” said Bruce Lawler, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Kodiak. “LMR interoperability also makes it possible to use a single device for both mobile data applications as well as LMR PTT communications.”
“Airbus DS Communications is pleased to leverage our technology partnership with Kodiak and open a new level of interoperability for both Broadband PTT and P25 LMR users. Providing users the superior performance of a carrier-integrated solution increases their connectivity, improves productivity, and reduces costs,” said John Szpak, General Manager VESTA Radio Products, Airbus DS Communications.
