General Dynamics Features 'FirstRunner' Compact Rapid Deployable Mission Critical LTE System at IWCE 2019
General Dynamics Mission Systems is featuring the 'FirstRunner', a new Compact Rapid Deployable (CRDTM) 4G LTE communications system for the first responder customer owned and maintained (COAM) market.
TM solution is being tested by AT&T for compatibility with FirstNet – the nationwide public safety LTE communications platform dedicated to America’s first responders. Additionally, a small number of first responders at the local level will participate in pilot demonstrations.
“I am pleased that the FirstRunnerTM solution for the COAM market will soon be available to first responders across the country,” said TJ Kennedy, co-founder of The Public Safety Network, and former president of the First Responder Network Authority. “The first responder market has a need for a compact and affordable 4G LTE communications system with satellite backhaul. This lightweight, easily deployable solution will add network connectivity to rural and remote locations during incident response and training exercises, assist with network restoration during disaster response, and provide network resources when needed for planned events in areas where coverage is limited.”
FirstRunnerTM quickly provides high speed internet while establishing a local area network for first responders. It’s capable of supporting the FirstNetTM Band 14 spectrum, is easily transportable on a standard vehicle trailer hitch and features quick deployment and set up by one person, and low total cost of ownership compared to larger, less mobile and more expensive solutions. It is also designed to easily accept upgrades as technology evolves.
Key FirstRunnerTM capabilities:
- Enables first responders to gain quick network communications
- Capable of supporting FirstNetTM Band 14
- Includes an auto deploy high speed satellite connection
- Provides an advanced Wi-Fi hotspot
- Enables enhanced interoperability, situational awareness and video streaming
