Cambridgeshire MP Lucy Frazer Visits Sepura to See how Innovation is Supporting Success
Of particular interest to the MP was the technical innovation & customer support practices allowing the Cambridge-based company to win large orders from many of the largest police forces in Europe (The Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium & Germany.
Sepura were delighted to receive a recent visit from South East Cambridgeshire MP Lucy Frazer to their headquarters near Cambridge. In her role as constituency MP for the Cambridge Research Park where Sepura are based, Lucy was keen to see some of the tools which public safety organisations are using every day to support operations and improve communications.
Of particular interest to Lucy was the technical innovation and customer support practices which have allowed the Cambridge-based company to win significant orders from many of the largest police forces in Europe, including in The Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium and Germany. Recent sales successes in the UK include their largest single order yet received - over 33,000 TETRA radios ordered by the Metropolitan Police Service in March this year.
Having seen a demonstration of Sepura’s TETRA terminals in action, Lucy toured the office and met staff from across Sepura’s development teams, including young engineers taking part in Sepura’s apprentice programme. She was able to see where future products are being developed to cater for the evolving voice and data needs of operational police officers, as well as seeing how the company is embracing alternative platforms such as broadband and 4G networks to maximise operational potential.
Having seen first-hand the excellent facilities at the company Lucy commented: “It was interesting to see how Sepura has been able to harness engineering techniques to support police forces around the world. They are a real example of a Cambridge success story, both here in the UK and in terms of exporting around the world. I wish them the best of luck with their future ambitions.”
Acting CEO Steve Barber said of the visit: “We are extremely proud of our recent major sales successes which have ensured that Sepura devices are the radio of choice for major European police forces in 2019. Our teams of engineers are continually working on exciting solutions to best answer our users’ communications challenges and are absolutely crucial to ensuring that Sepura remains the world leader in public safety communications solutions.”
Joe McHugh, Sepura’s HR Director added: “Sepura offers a dynamic engineering environment where every day is a fresh and exciting challenge to our team of developers. Whilst we have seen outstanding recent successes, we are very keen to not rest on our laurels and to continue to drive the development of new solutions for the benefit of our critical communications customers. We are grateful to Lucy for finding time to visit our office and look forward to future visits to celebrate further success.”
