State of California leverages RapidDeploy to quickly implement two-way SMS

Given the urgent need during the pandemic, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) turned to RapidDeploy to quickly implement two-way SMS. Technology innovation and speed of implementation are the key reasons the State of California adopted RapidDeploy’s RadiusPlus tactical mapping solution. Two-way SMS, in any language, can be initiated by a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator following a 9-1-1 call hang-up or if the caller appears distressed and uncommunicative.

RapidDeploy has been working with the state of California since March 2019, with approximately 80 percent of California’s 400+ 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Points now incorporating RadiusPlus. Training sessions on the new two-way SMS capabilities began May 4th.
