French MOI launches RFI on public-safety broadband features

The French Ministry of the Interior (MoI) released a request for information (RFI) about licensed shared access and air ground air communications. The call for competences relates to establishing a radio network of the future (RRF) for public protection and disaster response (PPDR) communications.

The RFI follows contract awards for the country’s PCSTORM public-safety broadband project earlier this year. French operator Orange will offer the radio access network (RAN) with priority and pre-emption features and backup using other French nationwide mobile networks
