TASSTA and Vertel have formed a partnership to develop a new push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) solution. The service will provide enhanced voice, data and video messaging service for organisations with business-, mission- and life-critical operations. Vertel’s PoC service is a fully integrated offering that is set to be a ‘game changer’ for instant team and group communications. It takes aspects of land mobile radio (LMR) and integrates them with the capability of mobile phone networks. Key features of Vertel’s PoC service include: A growing range of ‘certified devices and peripherals’ for optimised performance of voice and data services. High availability and enhanced coverage via multiple underlying public and private networks. Multiple carrier options plus Vertel LTE and WLAN integration and Australia-based cloud environment integration and standards-based gateways for existing LMR technologies and networks, amongst others.

“As pioneers of two-way radio in Australia, our initial focus has been on how to use PoC to enhance the investments our customers have made in their LMR networks,” said Andrew Findlay, Executive Director, Vertel.
