PSCE Involved in CERIS Workshop on Developing a European Critical Communication System
Last week, the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS) organised a workshop to provide an opportunity for Member States’ experts and industry representatives to discuss the policy initiative for a European Critical Communication System (EUCCS), as well as further security and resilience aspects and future technologies for secure communications.
The European Commission is working together with Member States’ experts to establish a European Critical Communication System to interlink the communication networks of all public law enforcement, civil protection, and safety responders in Europe by 2030. Building on dedicated EU security research projects and using state-of-the-art technology like broadband, this system shall allow for seamless critical communication and operational mobility across the Schengen area. This planned system has also been identified as a goal in the Political Guidelines for the next European Commission (2024 – 2029).
PSCE Board Member David Lund was present as the Coordinator of BroadEU Net Programme to present the initiative EUCCS that is to establish a secure, interoperable communication network for public security across the EU by 2030.
