DBK Announces Major Price Increase for TETRA Radios on Danish Critical Communications Network

The adjustment reflects a significant increase ranging from approximately € 200 to € 335 per radio and excludes Airbus TETRA radios.

DBK (Dansk Beredskabskommunikation), the leading provider of emergency communication solutions in Denmark, announces a forthcoming price adjustment for radios available under the SINE contract, effective January 1, 2025. The adjustment reflects a significant increase ranging from approximately DKK 1,500 to DKK 2,500 per radio.

Until December 31, 2024, stakeholders have the opportunity to place orders for radios at existing prices and within the current product range. DBK encourages emergency services intending to procure new radios before the year-end to provide a non-binding notification to Dansk Beredskabskommunikation (DBK) to facilitate preparation for anticipated demand.

Commencing in 2025, pricing for radios under the SINE contract will undergo ongoing regulation, indexed annually according to the net price index. DBK emphasizes the importance for emergency services to stay informed about current prices via the SINE portal hosted by DBK, accessible at portal.sikherdsnet.dk (super user login required), as recommended by the Rigspolitiets Center for Beredskabskommunikation (CFB).

Airbus TETRA Radios Excluded

Effective January 1, 2025, adjustments to the selection of radios available under the SINE contract will also be implemented. Notably, Airbus Public Safety and Security radios will no longer be included in the future product range.

Introducing New Radio Functionality

In anticipation of the new SINE contract, DNK will introduce enhanced functionality in radios, enabling automatic switching to broadband in areas with limited SINE coverage. This feature will be available in newer radios connecting to the SINE infrastructure via WiFi, facilitating connection to 4G or 5G networks through hotspots or smartphones.

Continued Flexibility in Radio Procurement

DNK reaffirms the flexibility for emergency services to utilize current radios with existing talkgroups under the new SINE contract. While the option to procure radios under the SINE contract remains available exclusively to emergency services, stakeholders retain the autonomy to explore alternative procurement methods, including the acquisition of radio models, such as Airbus, not offered under the contract.

It is imperative to note that all radio models and software must undergo certification before integration into the SINE network, irrespective of procurement through the SINE contract or external channels.
