The procurement will be the second phase of the market approach.

The Australian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) today provided a notice for an upcoming Request for Information (RFI). The RFI will be for Australia's Public Safety Mobile Broadband (PSMB) capability/network solution.

The RFI is the first phase of the market approach and seeks to:

  • Gather information on market technical and service offerings
  • Learn the costs of creating and running a national PSMB network in Australia.
  • Prequalify vendors for a future procurement in the 2025-26 financial year

The procurement will be the second phase of the market approach. It will focus on the communications technology, coverage, and infrastructure needed for a PSMB network. The procurement will also include associated goods and services.

The National Emergency Management Agency encourages all interested parties to consider participating in the RFI. It is designed to increase industry engagement. It will also ensure a full understanding of the capabilities and innovations in the market.

Subject to approval, NEMA plans to release this RFI on AusTender in July 2024.
