Capita signs contract with London Fire Brigade
The solution comprises managed technology services, including both software and hardware, developed in conjunction with fire brigades all over the UK and internationally.
Capita signs a contract with the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority to provide control room services and mobilisation and communications technologies. The contract is worth £19.6 million over 10 years.
The solution comprises managed technology services, including both software and hardware, developed in conjunction with fire brigades all over the UK and internationally. The solution provided by Capita will allow multiple, complementary applications to reside on a single computer within the control room, creating savings, ensuring reliability and integrity and reducing power usage. It will also be integrated with the existing Authority systems, providing an enhanced suite of information available to control room officers, so that operational and process efficiencies can be exploited.
?Craig Rodgerson, chief executive at Capita’s secure information solutions business said: “Capita, through the acquisitions of Sungard Public Sector and Fortek, now integrated into our secure solutions business, has been providing mission critical technology for fire and rescue services for more than 30 years.
These new control room solutions are designed to support the on-going business of the London Fire Brigade, deliver improvements on a cumulative basis and reduce costs. In the longer term it will make technological innovation easier to implement and help change the communications behaviour of the general public, reducing, for example, the number of non-urgent calls.”
