Ooredoo Upgrades TETRA Services for Businesses
With more than 290 customers and 27,000 users, Ooredoo’s TETRA network is one of the largest commercially-available networks of its kind in the world.
Ooredoo’s Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) network has grown into one of the largest commercially-available networks of its kind in the world, as the company continues to modernise and update its communication services for businesses.
With more than 290 business customers and 27,000 users, Ooredoo has emerged as a global leader in TETRA services, providing businesses in Qatar with reliable communications and professional mobile radio applications.
The TETRA network offers much more than a standard walkie-talkie solution.Besides enabling one-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many communications, it also allows businesses to subscribe to a range of applications, including computer-aided dispatcher systems, voice recording and automatic vehicle location. As part of its on-going enhancement of business services, Ooredoo is revamping TETRA services to make them more accessible for small and medium businesses.
The company has reduced the monthly subscription fee for TETRA services from QR 99 to QR 90, to offer more value for existing customers, and also to introduce a new range of companies to the business advantages offered by TETRA. In addition to a broad range of TETRA-compatible applications, the TETRA services include a full portfolio of communications services, including group, individual and broadcast calls; an extensive range of compatible handsets, available from a range of vendors; and a fully-supported operations and maintenance service, with a 24-hour dedicated helpline.
The TETRA service has been in operation since 2005, offering secure communications channels and full redundancy in terms of base station coverage.
