Nødnett TETRA network implementation to be finished soon
Currenty the development of the Norwegian Nødnett TETRA network is approaching its final stages in the remaining areas in the country. "We are on schedule for completion of the nationwide Nødnett at the end of 2015, says project director Dagfinn Sjøvik.
By the end of 2014, Nødnett was ready to be used in 19 of the 27 police districts. The implementation of the network in the remaining districts will be completed in Autumn 2015. Today, Nødnett already has been adopted by multiple agencies within 16 of the 19 completed districts.
For both the police and fire department, the introduction to Nødnett goes according to plan and it will be finalized during spring this year. - "We see that the emergency services are eager to adopt Nødnett, and that they are happy to start communicating once communications are possible", says Sjøvik.
The introduction of Nødnett to the Norwegian health services involved both installations of technical equipment at the AMK centers and emergency rooms. "Although most of the rollout went smooth, Nødnett have experienced some technical challenges that have resulted in changing our initial plan, especially for Phase 2", says Sjøvik.
The consequences of these changes was that the start of the Nødnett TETRA network for the AMK center Vestfold/Telemark with the associated emergency centers, has been postponed from Q4 2014 to late summer 2015, says Sjøvik. The decision was taken in consultation with the Health Directorate.
- I'm pleased with the good cooperation with the Health Directorate, both centrally and locally, and I can see that this contributes positively to finalize phase 2 of Nødnett, concludes Sjøvik.
