Motorola Solutions opens Australian Innovation centre

Motorola Solutions, has unveiled a new innovation centre in Australia. It will focusing on collaboration and technology partnering to solve the challenges faced by the public safety sector and heavy industries.

Located in Melbourne, the centre was officially opened by Victorian Innovation Minister, Philip Dalidakis, who challenged Victorian businesses and entrepreneurs to continue to drive innovation in the state.

The company also unveiled its vision for the future of public safety at the event, Next Generation Mobile Intelligence (NGMI), which harnesses a mix of mobile broadband technologies to place the right information into the hands of Australia’s first responders so they can make better and faster decisions to keep communities safe.

Motorola Solutions’ US-based chief technology officer, Paul Steinberg, said; "technology demonstrations based on everyday events helps to bring the NGMI vision to life and highlights the difference that greater infield intelligence will have in enabling public safety agencies and industries reach new levels of safety and performance."

This includes the use of the latest software applications developed with Motorola Solutions’ smart public safety solutions partners to analyse criminal patterns within Big Data to solve crimes faster and more efficiently, as well as intelligence-led public safety and citizen engagement solutions which help law enforcement agencies anticipate and respond to incidents with the best information available.

The latest, mission-critical public safety devices will also be on display at the innovation centre – from body worn cameras used to capture, store and manage vast amounts of video evidence, to field deployable public safety LTE units to create instant broadband access in emergencies and drones designed specifically for public safety use.
