Renewal Dutch C2000 Public Safety TETRA System Delayed
According to the Dutch Minister of Safety and Justice, Stef Blok, the migration to the new C2000 system will not be earlier than 2018.
In a letter, the Dutch Minister of Safety and Justice informed the Dutch government about the state of affairs regarding the implementation of the Renewal of the C2000 TETRA System, the realization of the national control room organization (LMO) and 112 for deaf and hearing impaired persons.
In addition to all of the milestones achieved regarding the renewal of C2000, the minister stated in his previous letter, that the risks that could possibly affect the renewal of C2000 are continuously weighted for probability and potential impact.
The past week has become clear that the delivery of the new system and the careful testing of the system requires more time. To standardize and record the data of over 80,000 portable and mobile TETRA radio, more than 11,000 user groups, and the proven roles and rights of the over 2200 centralists, also requires more time to prevent risks in the use of the system in the future.
It now seems that the migration to the new C2000 system will not be earlier than 2018. The independent external testing authority supports this selected timeline. In close cooperation with all parties involved, the coming period the consequences will be examined with a focus on how these can be solved.
The focus will be on the reprogramming of the portable adn mobile radios, the training for the call takers, in accordance with the current planning process. The continuity of the current C2000 system remains secure.
The final migration will be initiated when all conditions are met. The Minister writes: "The safety of our first responders as well as the impact on the work of the emergency services are the most important in the assessment.
