Simoco about the rise of the radio

According to Simoco's latest blog, Machine to Machine (M2M) communication will play a major role in our industry in 2014. It has already established itself at the operational heart of many industries and, as recently reported by Telecoms.com, it’s predicted that M2M services will be implemented in markets away from its traditional use in fleet management, utilities and construction.

The majority (of M2M) is currently conducted using cellular GSM as there are publically available networks using this standard in over 90% of the world. Although the general public increasingly uses cellular technology, businesses need to consider if the same level of relevance applies to M2M.

What’s interesting then, is the role that radio will play for businesses in conducting M2M communications. Since radio systems are usually owned and operated by the enterprise, they are specifically designed to fit the operational requirements of the business.

The latest generation digital radio networks can demonstrate coverage, reliability and security in a cost effective solution and this year we’ll see more of these networks positioned to fulfil the M2M requirement for business critical enterprises.
