Hytera Tests PTTConnect App at Flensburg University
Hytera announced recently that the company conducted usability tests on the PTTconnect TETRA over LTE Application at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg, Germany.
Students of applied computer science Alina Protsenko, and Vanessa Schomakers in the laboratory for usability and human-computer interaction at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences have checked the app PTTconnect for ease of use in collaboration with Hytera.
With the aid of the thinking aloud method, using video recordings, audio recordings and interviews, both student identified what already works well for the professional and where there is still potential for optimization. According to Hytera, the app achieved particularly good results during individual calls and group calls. "Hytera identified a few exceptions in relation to the ease of use that have been confirmed", explains Protsenko, "but we were also able to gain new insights. The development team can now work on further improvement in the right places".
The usability test took place as part of the project "Mobile Computing Cross Platform Development". Here Hytera and the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences are developing a Cross-Platform Framework (CPF) for safety-related VoIP apps, in particular for iOS and Android. The emphasis of this project is on porting safety-related apps for voice and data transmission, among others for the public safety organizations, e.g. police and fire service (BOS), with their high requirements on app security, secure transmission and QoS (Quality of Service).
Already 19 participants from the rescue service, fire service, technical relief service and industry have put the PTTconnect Application through its paces.
