Airbus DS Communications and RapidSOS will provide groundbreaking demonstrations on how 9-1-1 data can be delivered using smartphone devices directly to Calltakers at Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) during the NENA 2016 Conference in Indianapolis.

At the conference, PSAPs will see first-hand how they can harness the power of mobile smartphone devices for better situational awareness and improved emergency response. Rich multimedia data originating from the RapidSOS Haven smartphone application will be displayed using Airbus DS Communications’ VESTA® 9-1-1 system.

Using all sensors available on modern smartphone devices—including GPS, WiFi-Beacons, Bluetooth-Beacons, Cell Tower Triangulation and Barometric Pressure Sensors—participants at NENA will see how RapidSOS can transmit precise device location seamlessly into the VESTA 9-1-1 console. A host of additional data such as medical information, demographic information and emergency contacts are just one click away. PSAPs will also see how they can have access to a live video stream from the scene, pictures sent from the device, as well as IP-based two-way text messaging.

“Technology is dramatically changing our lives,” said Michael Martin, CEO of RapidSOS. “The change for Public Safety is enormous. We are excited to have the opportunity to show the NENA participants how the integrated data application we have built will ultimately help PSAPs save more lives.”

“RapidSOS has an innovative platform that leverages the full capabilities of a smartphone in an emergency,” said Jeroen de Witte, CTO of Airbus DS Communications. “We know that how Public Safety deals with data is on the minds of many PSAPs. This is one reason why it’s so important to have the opportunity to demonstrate how advanced data capabilities can be delivered in the VESTA 9-1-1 solution.”

Airbus DS Communications and RapidSOS will showcase the demonstration at their respective booths, #602 and #335. In addition, attendees are invited to a special demonstration at the Airbus DS Communications Innovation Theater on Tuesday, June 14 at 2 p.m. ET in Booth 602.
