Zetron’s Alice Johnson to Serve on Key Public- Safety Committee
Alice Johnson, product manager for Zetron’s MAX Call-Taking system, has been selected to serve on two key public-safety industry committees (APCO and iCert).
She was chosen by the Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT)/ Integrated Justice Information Institute (IJIS) to serve on their Text-to-911 Translation Project, and by the Association of Public‑Safety Communications Officials (APCO) to serve on their Standards Development Committee Training Subcommittee.
The Text-to-911 Translation project was awarded to iCERT/IJIS by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to improve communications between emergency call takers at public safety answering points (PSAPs) and those with limited English proficiency. The APCO Training Subcommittee helps set the training standards for new and veteran public-safety telecommunicators.
“I’m honored be serving on these committees,” said Johnson. “Prior to coming to Zetron, I served for 20 years in PSAPs as everything from call-taker to assistant director. As a result of both my current role and my prior experience, I’m very committed to helping ensure that communities are equipped to provide fully effective 9-1-1 services. I also want to do my part to ensure that telecommunicators have the tools and training necessary to do their jobs effectively as technology evolves.”
