City of Yreka, Calif., Upgrades Legacy Positron Dispatch System to Avtec Scout Console System
The Yreka Police Department in California upgraded its legacy dispatch communications system to an Avtec Scout™ system to provide unified Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and telephony communications for the city’s 911 center.
The City of Yreka made the decision to upgrade its emergency dispatch technology after receiving an end-of-life letter from AT&T indicating support for the Positron Power RADIO™ dispatch system was no longer available.
The Avtec Scout dispatch system that replaced the legacy Power RADIO™ consoles will future-proof the police department’s dispatching investment by integrating the city’s radio system with the AT&T 911 telephony infrastructure, and allowing for interoperability between new technologies such as video, text, and AVL (automatic vehicle location).
“Clients like the City of Yreka Police Department appreciate the capabilities Avtec consoles provide in their rapidly changing emergency dispatch communications environment. With more technology interfaces then any independent console manufacturer, Avtec assures customers the ability to use legacy and emerging LMR, LTE, and PTT over cellular technologies today and well into the future,” said Avtec’s Senior Vice President of Sales John Rosati.
Scout voice dispatch technology delivers a comprehensive set of functionality for mission-critical public safety environments and is available in hardware, software, and mobile formats that operate on Wi-Fi and LTE networks
