Sepura secures the 2010 World Cup in the Johanneburg region

Sepura has developed a customised Short Data Application (SDA) for the Johannesburg 2010 Organising Committee to help secure the 2010 World Cup venues in the Johannesburg region. This contract for one of the most prestigious global sporting events was made possible by Global Communications, Sepura’s long standing partner in South Africa.

The 2010 Johannesburg Organising Committee is in charge of the organisation of the games in the Johannesburg region — which plays a very central role in the 2010 World Cup as it is the location of the very first and final matches of the tournament.
The Johannesburg region comprises thirty seven venues which include two stadia: the well-known Soccer City and Ellis Park.
SDAs allow the user to select pre-defined messages on the display of the radio from a selection of headings about specific incidents or status reports in a user-friendly way.

The SDA developed for the 2010 Organising Committee covers specific medical, security, fire  and logistic events and also monitors the capacity status of the venues (e.g. 25% full, 50%full etc.). The messages are then divided in categories according to the severity or type of incidents (single or multiple). The messages are common for all the venues in the region and, for this reason, can be more easily monitored by the dispatcher.

Sepura’s SDAs can be delivered on any Sepura hand-held or mobile TETRA radio.
